Laurus College Hosts Students from South Korea

by the Marketing Department at Laurus College

Laurus College’s Oxnard Campus recently welcomed 21 students visiting from both Gyeongju University (Gyeongju, South Korea) and Daedong College (Busan, South Korea). The visitation was part of a new effort to share both Laurus College’s career training philosophy and unique learning platform with college students across the globe.

During their week-long stay, students spent the first part of each day at the Oxnard campus, attending Business Communications lectures conducted by Professional Business Systems (PBS) Department Chair Melanie Bryant and PBS Instructor Nancy Munkres.

For the second part of their day, students learned on-the-job skills by participating in various job-shadowing opportunities at businesses in the Oxnard area including the Hilton Garden Inn, Courtyard Marriot, Oxnard Family Circle, Child Development Center and Suvarnaphumi Thai Cuisine.

It wasn’t all work, however, for these visiting college students. On the weekend, they had a great time discovering everything that California (in particular, the areas of Ventura county and Los Angeles) had to offer.

“This is only the first stage of bringing more international activity and presence to our campuses,” says Dr. David Ahn, CEO of Laurus College. “Not only do these students visiting from other countries receive a valuable learning experience, our students at Laurus College also benefit from the interaction by learning about cultures outside of the United States.”
