Joel Stangeland

I served as a career firefighter and paramedic from 1993 to 2020. During this time, I was deeply involved in training, instruction, and professional development in an official capacity.
Throughout my career in city government, I have played a key leadership and management role. My responsibilities included participating in labor negotiations, contributing to strategic planning initiatives, and fostering healthy organizational culture. With decades of hands-on experience, I bring a practical, grounded understanding of what it takes to lead teams and build resilient systems.
Since transitioning from the fire service in 2020, I’ve focused on teaching at the college level as my primary professional path. I am passionate about sharing the lessons I’ve learned in the field and helping students apply them in meaningful, real-world ways. I’m excited to continue this work at Laurus College and look forward to growing alongside my colleagues and students.
