Accessibility at Laurus College

We are committed to ensuring our website and digital learning environment are usable by everyone, including people with disabilities.

Our commitment

Laurus College is committed to digital accessibility and to providing an inclusive experience for all visitors, students, and applicants. As a federally recognized postsecondary institution, we work to meet our obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and applicable state law.

We treat accessibility as an ongoing responsibility, not a one-time project. Accessibility considerations are built into how we design, build, and review this website.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. This website is designed to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

We test pages with automated tools (axe-core) and with manual keyboard-only and screen-reader review on our highest-traffic pages, including the home page, the inquiry form, and program detail pages.

Measures we take to support accessibility

  • Semantic HTML5 with clear landmark structure and a logical heading order on every page.
  • A "Skip to main content" link as the first focusable element of each page.
  • Visible keyboard focus indicators that meet non-text contrast requirements.
  • Text and interface contrast that meets or exceeds WCAG AA ratios; color is never the only way information is conveyed.
  • Form fields with associated labels, clear required-field indicators, and error messages announced to assistive technology.
  • Meaningful alternative text for informative images and empty alt text for decorative ones.
  • Respect for the prefers-reduced-motion setting, so animations are minimized for visitors who request it.
  • Layouts that reflow without loss of content or function down to small and zoomed viewports.

Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology

This website is designed to be compatible with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari) on desktop and mobile, used together with assistive technologies such as screen readers (including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver) and operating-system zoom and contrast settings. It is not designed to support browsers more than two major versions old.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some limitations may exist. Certain linked documents (such as PDFs of the college catalog and policies) are hosted by third parties and may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We are working to remediate these materials and can provide accessible alternatives on request. If you encounter a barrier that is not listed here, please tell us using the contact information below.

Give feedback or request an accommodation

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you experience a barrier, need information in an alternative format, or wish to request an accommodation, please contact our Section 504 / ADA Coordinator:

Section 504 / ADA Coordinator, Laurus College

Email: accommodations@lauruscollege.edu
We try to respond to accessibility feedback within five business days.

When you contact us, please describe the page or document, the barrier you encountered, and the browser and assistive technology you were using. This helps us reproduce and fix the issue quickly.

Formal complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR). California residents may also contact the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education. Contact details for both are available on our Student Consumer Information page.
