The name Laurus—Latin for the laurel of achievement—reflects what we want for every student: real, earned success. We pair real-world online training with a “self-ready” mindset and support that follows you from enrollment to graduation and beyond.
Our story
Two decades of helping students move forward
Laurus College grew out of Atlas Computer Centers, founded in 1998 on California’s Central Coast. In 2006, Laurus College was established to offer accredited degree programs, beginning in San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, and Santa Maria. We expanded to Oxnard in 2011, Las Vegas in 2020, and Chula Vista in 2021—growing to six on-site locations across California and Nevada while delivering programs 100% online.

The Distance Education Accrediting Commission is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE). Laurus College is a private postsecondary institution approved to operate by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE).
